The Spurs shot 51.4% from the floor and they outrebounded the Blazers 50-36, but they didn’t finish them off until they outscored them 34-18 in the 4th quarter to pull away. Tony Parker led the way for the Spurs in this game with 20 points, 4 rebounds, 9 assists and 2 steals. Tiago Splitter (14 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocked shots), DeJuan Blair (13 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot), Danny Green (13 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 3 blocked shots) and Kawhi Leonard (11 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals) also pitched in for the Spurs last night. The Spurs are now 8-4 on the year.

20-year old SG/SF Kawhi Leonard has worked his way into the starting lineup for the Spurs. He has played in 11 games (1 start) for the Spurs so far this year and he is averaging 22.1 minutes, 7.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, 0.7 assists and 1.2 steals per game. Leonard is shooting a very rock solid 50% from the floor so far this year. Leonard has a really high upside which was the reason that the Spurs dealt guard George Hill for him on draft night. 20-year old point guard Cory Joseph has only played in 4 games (0 starts) for the Spurs so far this year and he is averaging 5.5 minutes, 0.5 points, 0.8 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game.

The Spurs outscored the Rockets 11-5 in O.T. to outlast them last night. Tony Parker led the way for the Spurs in this game with 28 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists and 1 steal. Tim Duncan filled up the stat sheet last night with 17 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocked shots. Kawhi Leonard pitched in with 11 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocked shots in this game. The Spurs are now 7-4 on the year.

The San Antonio Spurs lose T.J. Ford for a while

The Spurs have lost 28-year old backup point guard T.J. Ford for the next 4-6 weeks due to a torn left hamstring. Ford has played in 10 games (0 starts) for the Spurs so far this year and he is averaging 15.5 minutes, 4.2 points, 1.4 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. 27-year old Gary Neal will likely pick up most of Ford’s minutes until he’s ready to return to action. Neal has played in 5 games (4 starts) for the Spurs so far this year and he is averaging 21.4 minutes, 11.4 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game.

Milwaukee Bucks 106, San Antonio Spurs 103

The Spurs shot an amazing 60% from the floor last night but it just wasn’t good enough to beat the Bucks. Tony Parker (22 points, 2 rebounds and 8 assists) and Tim Duncan (20 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists, 1 steal and 3 blocked shots) led the way for the Spurs last night. Kawhi Leonard shot 9 of 12 from the floor and he finished up with 19 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 steals and 1 blocked shot in 33 minutes on the floor as he had the best game of his young NBA career last night. Richard Jefferson (12 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 blocked shot), DeJuan Blair (11 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists) and Gary Neal (10 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assist) also pitched in for the Spurs last night. The Spurs are now 6-4 on the season.
