33-year old shooting guard Manu Ginobili still has a lot left in the gas tank as he proved last year. George Hill is stepping up for the San Antonio Spurs

24-year old guard George Hill is taking advantage of the Spurs wanting to watch Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili’s minutes down the stretch. In his last seven games, Hill is averaging 29.9 minutes, 18.4 points, 1.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.0 steal per game. In those seven games, Hill is shooting 56.4% from the floor (44 of 78) which is outstanding! Hill has now played in 73 games (4 starts) so far this year and he is averaging 28.2 minutes, 11.7 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. Hill is going to be a big part of the Spurs’ success in the playoffs as he will be the first guard off the bench.

Richard Jefferson has played pretty well for the San Antonio Spurs this year

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Steppin Up, Front Page by alleyoop on Sunday 27 March 2011 at 8:07 am

Veteran small forward Richard Jefferson has really played well for the Spurs this year as he has really bought into the team style of play. He has played in 71 games (all starts) for the Spurs so far this year and he is averaging 30.6 minutes, 11.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. Jefferson has shot 47.6% from the floor, 42.9% from three point range and 76% from the free throw line so far this year as he is taking good shots. With Tim Duncan down for a little bit, the Spurs probably wouldn’t mind to see Jefferson taking a couple more shots per game.

Matt Bonner has been great off the bench for the San Antonio Spurs this year

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Steppin Up, Front Page by alleyoop on Saturday 5 March 2011 at 4:26 pm

30-year old forward Matt Bonner has been excellent off the bench for the Spurs so far this year. He has played in 46 games (0 starts) for the Spurs so far this year and he is averaging 21.9 minutes, 7.8 points, 3.4 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game. Bonner is shooting 50.8% from the floor but an amazing 52.8% (85 of 161) from three point range so far this year! Bonner really helps the Spurs spread the floor when he’s on the court because teams have to respect his shooting. Bonner has always been a great shooter so he might be able to keep up the good work the rest of the year.

DeJuan Blair is getting red hot for the San Antonio Spurs right now

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Steppin Up, Front Page by alleyoop on Friday 11 February 2011 at 7:41 pm

21-year old power forward/center DeJuan Blair is red hot for the Spurs right now. In his last five games, Blair is averaging 30.0 minutes, 15.2 points, 10.2 rebounds, 1.0 assist and 1.6 steals per game. He four double/doubles in his last five games and he is shooting 57.8% from the floor in those games. Blair has now played in 52 games (all starts) for the Spurs so far this year and he is averaging 21.9 minutes, 8.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.2 steals per game. Blair is one of the best young big men in the NBA and I think the Spurs will play him more than usual when the playoffs start.
