The San Antonio Spurs select Tiago Splitter in the 1st round

The Spurs have selected power forward Tiago Splitter in the 1st round of the NBA Draft.  Splitter is from Brazil which should be no surprise as the Spurs will go anywhere to find good basketball players and it’s paid off for them big time in the past.  Splitter is a 6′11″, 232 pound bruiser who excels on the defensive side of the basketball court so he should fit right in on the Spurs.  Splitter has played in 238 games in Brazil and he has averaged 9.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, 0.7 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.9 blocks per game.  Splitter shot 59.2% from the floor (mostly putbacks and dunks), 31.4% from three point range and 57.8% from the free throw line.  Look for the Spurs to bring him along slowly.
