Fabricio Oberto has declined his player option with the Spurs and will become a free agent

Fabricio Oberto has declined his player option for next season and he will become a restricted free agent.  It will be interesting to see what kind of offers Oberto gets as he played really well in the playoffs for the Spurs.  The Spurs should try to retain him as long as no one goes overboard and gives him a big contract.  Oberto played in 79 games (33 starts) last season for the Spurs and he averaged 17.3 minutes, 4.4 points, 4.7 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game.  He shot an outstanding 56.2% from the floor but he will need to work on his free throw shooting as he only hit 64.7% from there.

Oberto improved a lot in his second season in the NBA as he improved his career numbers.  Oberto has played in 138 (33 starts) NBA games and he’s averaged 13.4 minutes, 3.3 points, 3.6 rebounds and 0.7 assists.  Oberto has hit 54% from the floor and 61.5% from the free throw line.
