The Spurs got a huge win on the road Sunday in Sacramento.  Tim Duncan led the way with a monster effort, scoring 35 points & grabbing 14 rebounds.  Tony Parker had a decent game at the point with 17 points, 4 assists and 2 steals.  Manu Ginobili pitched in with 16 points.  Fabricio Oberto (13 points, 4 rebounds) and Brent Barry (11 points, 4 assists) each pitched in on the offense.

The Spurs improved to 8-2 on the season.

The Spurs shot the lights out hitting 51.4% of their shots from the floor as a team.  Tim Duncan led the way with 21 points, 11 rebounds and 3 blocked shots.  Brent Barry came off the bench and scored 14 points and grabbed 4 rebounds.  Tony Parker had a good game with 13 points and 8 assists.  Bruce Bowen (11 points), Matt Bonner (10 points) and Beno Udrih (6 points, 9 assists) all pitched in on the victory.

The Spurs have improved to 7-2 on the season.

Spurs fall in OT to the Bobcats 95-92

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Thursday 16 November 2006 at 10:48 am

The Spurs were really tossing up alot of bricks last night as they only hit 37.5% of their shots.  The Spurs out-rebounded the Bobcats 63-41, but they lost because they couldn’t shoot and the Bobcats wanted it more.

Tim Duncan was solid as usual with 24 points & 13 rebounds.  Tony Parker was very active last night with 25 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals.  Michael Finley was good off of the bench with 17 points & 7 rebounds.  Manu Ginobili was very busy with 12 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists.  Fabricio Oberto didn’t score, but he grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out 3 assists.

The Spurs looked a little tired after beating the Rockets the night before.  The Spurs dropped to 6-2 on the season.

Spurs have huge second half and prevail 92-84 over the Rockets

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Wednesday 15 November 2006 at 5:03 pm

The Spurs were trailing the Rockets 56-43 at halftime, but Coach Popavich must have lit into them in the locker room!  The Spurs came out in the second half and out-scored the Rockets 49-28 (21-9 in the 4th quarter) to pull out a huge victory on the road.

Tim Duncan led the way with 19 points, 15 rebounds and 3 blocked shots.  Manu Ginobili had a solid game with 19 points & 5 rebounds.  Tony Parker had an off game shooting the ball (4 of 13 from the floor) as he scored 8 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished out 5 assists.

The Spurs got good efforts from unlikely sources to fuel the team on to victory.  Francisco Elson (12 points, 7 rebounds), Beno Udrih (11 points) and Robert Horry (10 points) all really helped the team to victory.  The Spurs got a big win against a tough division foe on the road.  The Spurs improved their record to 6-1 on the season.

Centers

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 14 November 2006 at 5:45 pm

The Spurs got rid of last years centers (Rasho Nesterovic and Nazr Mohammed) and replaced them with a bunch of back-ups that will be expected to play defense and rebound.  And don’t be surprised if you add these three guys stats up at the end of the season and they add up to good production from the center position.

Fabricio Oberto only averaged 8.3 minutes per game over his career, so he’s a hard player to evaluate.  Oberto has career averages of 1.8 points and 2.1 rebounds per game over his career.  I have a feeling that Oberto will be a solid player for the Spurs this season.

Francisco Elson has only averaged 16.9 minutes per game over his career.  Elson is a tough player that will be a rebounding and defensive force in the paint with the Spurs.  Elson has career averages of 4.1 points & 3.7 rebounds per game.  Those numbers should improve, because he will get more playing time.

Jackie Butler only has averaged 12.8 minutes per game over his career.  Butler is a force in the paint and he’s been very productive in his limited minutes on the court.  Butler has averaged 5.2 points & 3.2 rebounds per game over his career.
